The Detroit Free Press Marathon is one of the few races in the world that is truly international, as the course passes through two countries – the United States and Canada. Although the course is mostly flat, there are some uphill sections.

Race Info
Finishers in all races will receive a medal and a T-shirt. Each medal has the same design, but a different size depending on the distance. There will be 19 water stations along the course.
Participants of the marathon must be at least 16 years old, relay and half marathon must be over 14 years old. There are no age restrictions on the 5K. Kids race is open to children ages 4 to 12. Participants of the 1M run must be 13 years old and older.
Pacemakers will be on the marathon and half marathon courses. Pacemakers can be found in the starting corridors. For the safety of participants, strollers, bicycles, pets, skateboards are not allowed in any of the races. The time limits are: marathon and relay – 6,5 hours, international half marathon – 4 hours, half marathon – 3,5 hours, 5K – 1 hour 10 minutes.
Mid-October usually has a cool morning start and cool to moderate temperatures midway through the course with little precipitation.
