The course of the Yellowstone Gateway 30K is suitable for beginners and experienced runners, the course covers just over 18 miles of trail, gravel road, unpaved dirt and scree roads. Running down steep rocky slopes can be dangerous. Race day can be cold and snowy or hot and dry because this is Montana. After the finish there will be two pools with different temperatures on the lawn.

Race Info
There will be 3 aid stations on the course with water, electrolyte drink, gels, pretzels, fruit and gummies.
This is not a closed course, there will be warning signs urging everyone to watch the runners. The course will be well marked with flags, cones and paint. Race volunteers will be at critical intersections to make sure no one takes a wrong turn.
Participants will be able to leave a drop bag at the start and receive it at the finish. On the bag you need to write your name and phone number. Everyone will receive a baseball cap, awards for the top 3 finishers for men and women and the first masters men and women, as well as many prizes from sponsors. After the race, runners can relax on the lawn with free beer and lunch.

You can find the course map and description here: runsignup.com. Elevation: 5500 feet, high point: 8500 feet, percent of the course on un-paved trails: 85%. The upper part of the course is very rocky and uneven in places. The water depth at both crossings is often from ankle to calf.
