The Wyoming Marathon Races is the oldest continuous marathon in the state, having started in 1978, and the ultra marathon is the oldest ultra marathon in the Rocky Mountain region. For several years, the marathon was the only marathon held in the state. Runners should be prepared for an altitude run – the altitude at the starting line is 8700 feet above sea level, and throughout the race, the altitude doesn’t drop below 8000 feet.

Race Info
Participants describe the race as uniquely beautiful with the start line sometimes covered in a misty haze. Throughout the course, runners hear the sound of mountain streams.
The course closes at 4 PM. The 5K distance takes place on the trail, and in case of inclement weather – on a road. All participants must bring a water bottle. There are three food stations with water, isotonics, and snacks approximately every four miles. Participants who litter the course will be disqualified.
No overall awards or age group will be provided. All finishers are winners. All finishers of the marathon, half marathon, and 5K will receive finishers’ medals. All ultra finishers will receive an individual belt buckle. Laramie tends to have moderate to cool (and sometimes cold) weather on the race day. May average low temp: 41ºF, high temp: 63ºF.
