The Whistlestop Marathon is the most picturesque, fun fall marathon. A team of volunteers is always ready to support participants from the start. The marathon and half marathon runs on a limestone and gravel trail that is designed to lighten the strain on knees and joints compared to conventional road races. After the race participants can relax in the heated festival tent. Throughout the day there will be music.

Race Info
The top 3 men and women overall, the top 3 men and women in age groups, the top 3 masters (40+ years), and the top local man and woman who live in Ashland or Bayfield counties will receive special awards. Finisher’s shirts and medals will be awarded within 6 hours.
Marathon participants must be over 16 years old and half marathon participants must be over 12 years old. No transfer of starting fees is allowed. Cars, bicycles, roller skates and pets are not allowed on the course.
Walkers are only allowed in the half marathon, 5K and 10K, no walkers are allowed in the full marathon. Ashland is usually characterized by cool or cold weather in early fall. On the race day the average low temperature is 34ºF and the average high temperature is 57ºF.
