The Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon is held in Loudoun County’s famed wine region. The Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon is a part of the Destination Races series and is the only one in the eastern United States. The course of the race follows a winding, looping route. Rolling hills along paved country roads greet runners for the first few miles of the course, flanked by barns, horses and long farm hedges.

Race Info
The minimum age for the half marathon participant is 12 years old. Registration includes handouts, finisher’s medal and food after the race. A wine glass, which includes wine tasting at the Wine Festival and music after the race, can be purchased separately. A wine, music and wine tasting festival will be held Saturday at Doukenie Winery. Admission is free, but you must purchase a wine glass for the tasting.
Parking on the race day will be available at the winery, and buses will take participants to the start. Elite runners will be positioned at the start at the front and participants will line up behind them according to their pace. Time will officially begin when the competitor crosses the start line. Rollerblades, skateboards, animals and bicycles are not allowed on the course without permission. Since the course goes out and back, baby strollers are not allowed for safety reasons.
Awards will be given to the top 3 winners of the half marathon, 10K and 5K. Team awards will go to the winning teams (there will be no team awards for the 10K and 5K).
