The Towpath Marathon was first held in 1992. It’s a classic fall race that includes the 10K, half marathon and marathon distances certified to qualify for Boston. Participation in the races supports the development of the Towpath Trail.

Race Info
There will be no race day registration or packet pickup. Aid stations will be located on the course for 6 hours, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. That is the time limit is 6 hours (13 minutes per mile). Walkers are welcome, but it’s best to take advantage of the early start so they can finish in the allotted time.
All participants will receive: a long sleeve technical shirt, individually designed BIB and snacks at the finish line. Marathon and half marathon finishers will also receive an individual medal. The top 3 men and women in the overall and the top 3 men and women in the age groups will receive special awards.
Virtual runs are also available for those who can’t join the event on the race day. The trail can vary in width from 8 to 10 feet, so runners participate in the race in both directions, dogs are not allowed on the trail for safety reasons.

You can find the course map and description here: canalwaypartners.com. The full marathon course is USATF Certified. The course is relatively flat but the first 3 and last 3 miles of the races are hilly. All trails are on an asphalt surface.
