Race Info
Although a one-mile fun run, a 5K, and a half marathon are also part of Rails to Trails, which started in 2007 as a Boston Marathon qualifying event.
On the day of the event, registration takes place in the open (lower) shelter of the village park, which is situated at 102 Mill Street. The bag check, runners’ shirts, and race bibs are all present.
There is water and Gatorade at every aid station. Also available at rest stops 3 through 9 are pretzels. Bananas, milk, and beer for the legally old will be available at the aid station at the finish line. Some aid stations do offer additional treats that the volunteers themselves supply. Following the event, there will be a chicken dinner (included for the marathon and 1/2 marathon). Food will be provided beginning at about 11:00 am.

Course Map
The Elroy-Sparta bike trail serves as the course. On the former railroad bed, there is a crushed limestone trail. A lighted, 3/4-mile tunnel is traversed by the marathon and half-marathon runners.
