RAD Half Marathon

RAD Half Marathon is a point-to-point fast, incredibly scenic run that starts in the heart of downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Participants enjoy free beer, a finisher’s medal that spins, live music and a free shuttle to the start area after the race.

Race Info

What’s included in the registration: a T-shirt, a custom-designed finisher’s commemorative medal, a goodie bag, a RAD bag with backpack-style ties for the first 1000 registrants, unique locally made prizes, free beer from at the finish line, live music along the course and at the finish line, free shuttle from the finish line to the start area after the race, USATF certified course. The aid stations will provide isotonics, water, energy gels and nutrition bars. 

There will be cash prizes for the top 3 male and female 10K winners overall: 1st place – $100 + additional $50 if you break the course record, 2nd place – $75, 3rd place – $50. You must be present at the awarding ceremony to receive your cash prize. The top 3 overall finishers and the top master finishers will be awarded special prizes.

For runners who can’t attend the event in person, there will be a virtual run – a great option to run the race anywhere, anytime. On roads where there are no sidewalks, runners must run facing traffic. If sidewalks are available, runners must use them. The course time limit is 10:30 AM.

You can find the course map and description here: idaph.net. The RAD Half Marathon and the 10K courses are both USATF Sanctioned and Certified. Most of the course is downhill from downtown and a “flat” run along the river on the greenway and through city parks. Throughout the course, runners will travel mostly on paved surface, with a few unpaved sections in the park.
