Each year several hundred runners cross the finish line in all three races. During the half marathon, runners will walk an “out and back” distance. This is one of the oldest continuous runs in the country. Participants will run through dense hardwood forests, under tall pines, over rocky ridges and open prairies, and see lakes, rocks, rockslides and other natural features left behind after glaciers finally retreated from Wisconsin more than 10000 years ago.

Race Info
Although there are many hills on the 50M course, none of them are very long or too steep, but they are constantly encountered. The terrain consists mostly of single-track unpaved, rocky and uprooted trails that wind through pine forests, hardwood forests and hilly prairies. There will be 18 aid stations on the 50M course, 12 stations on the 50K course. The trails at the half marathon are very wide, scenic and easy to run. There are hills as well as sections in pines and meadows.
If all spots for the event are sold out, you can add your name to the waiting list. Requests are processed in the order they are received, and available seats are primarily determined by the number of registered attendees who cancel or withdraw.
Pacers are not allowed in any of the three races. The city of Elkhorn usually has mild to moderately warm weather in May. On the race day, the average low is 51ºF and the average high is 75ºF.
