Participants of the Half Sauer Half Kraut will run on a mostly shaded and flat bike path along the Pennypack Creek. A Bavarian waitress will be handing out gels and the organizers will invite participants for beer and wieners at the post-race celebration (first beer is on the organizers’ dime). The marathon is not recommended for beginners.

Race Info
The organizers recommend participating in the marathon only to experienced runners who have already run long distances in summer and understand how to keep the pace in the heat and how to properly hydrate.
There will be 15 aid stations on the course (7 for half of the distance), including an Oktoberfest aid station. Runners will be able to take the free bus. The time limit is 6,5 hours.
Participants will receive a long-sleeve sweatshirt in the perfect fabric for running in the autumn and winter. Each half and full marathon finisher will receive a finisher’s award. In addition, awards will be given to: the first 3 overall male and female winners (age 40+), the top 3 men and women in age groups starting at age 14. The awards in the age groups are unique.

You can find the course map and description here: uberendurancesports.com. The course runs on a paved bike path along Pennypack Creek without traffic. Participants run for miles in the Philadelphia city without seeing any houses or cars. There are some short but steep hills in the middle of the course, as well as a section of trail.
