The Groom Creek Classic Run is held in central Arizona at about 5400 feet above sea level, surrounded by forested areas of the nearby Prescott National Forest and the Bradshaw Mountains, and traverses the hills south of town. The Fun Run and 5K are on smooth pavement with hills. The 10K and half marathon distances begin and end on pavement, but also run through the woods on smooth, wide dirt forest roads.
