The Deadwood Mickelson Trail Marathon is a point-to-point course, which runs along the former railroad line, which was abandoned in 1989 and turned into a biking, hiking and walking trail. More than 2,000 people usually participate in the event. Along the way, the course crosses converted railroad bridges and passes through rock tunnels and magnificent scenic National Forest lands.

Race Info
The first 1,5 miles are on the road, the next 12 miles are a mixture of gentle climbs and flat terrain, from this point there is a descent and then more serious descent. It is manageable, but runners have to be careful.
Walking both half and full marathon distances is allowed. Participants will have plenty of time. No official times will be published after 3:00 PM. Children under age 14 can’t participate in the full and half marathon. There will be water, drink, oranges, bananas and pretzels at the aid stations.
In addition to a medal, participants will receive massages, food, drinks and music after the finish line. The finish line is open for 7 hours. No pets and strollers are allowed on the course.
