The first Baystate Marathon and Half Marathon was held in 1990. It is the fastest and flattest event of its kind in the Northeast. The marathon was ranked by Outside magazine as the fourth fastest of any marathon in the country, with more than 1500 finishers.

Race Info
There will be 15 aid stations on the marathon course and 7 stations on the half marathon course, where water, lemon-lime isotonic and portable toilets will be provided.
Each finisher will receive a medal. Cash awards will be given to the top 5 men and women overall, the top 3 men and women among masters (40+) and the top 2 veterans among men and women (60+). Cash awards will be based on gun time. Age group awards will be based on chip time. Awards will be mailed to winners after the event.
There will be monitors at the finish line that will display the name and time of the finish. Strollers, roller skates and bicycles are not allowed on the course. The use of headphones is also strongly discouraged. The city of the event has cool to mild weather in October, the rainiest month of the year. On the race day the average low temperature is 36ºF and the average high temperature is 59ºF.
